Paying the jail by card
Credit and debit cards are accepted, with a nonrefundable 10% convenience fee. The card must belong to the person listed as security. Money orders, personal checks and business checks are not accepted. Confirm the complete amount before paying.
The sheriff directs jail payments to the bonding window in the jail’s main lobby. For online or remote payment through a company, ask whether it can accept the payment and complete the required signatures that way. An inmate account or commissary deposit is a separate transaction from posting a bail bond.

If you cannot pay the full amount now
Ask whether a payment plan is available. If one is offered, confirm the initial payment, remaining balance, due dates and any collateral before signing. If the bail bond itself is unaffordable, ask counsel about court review.

If you miss a bail bond payment
Contact the company promptly about the amount overdue, any notice you received and the options under your agreement. Georgia law lists unpaid fees after notice by certified mail or statutory overnight delivery as one reason a company may retain its signing fee if it surrenders the defendant before the case ends. A payment problem and a missed court appearance are separate issues; keep following the court’s orders.

Cash paid to the jail is different from a company fee
A cash bail bond deposit has the refund process described by the sheriff. A company fee pays for the surety service and follows different rules. Property given directly to the sheriff is also different from collateral pledged under a company agreement.
